DELIVERING RESULTS. Fighting for Denver’s Future. During her time in Congress, Diana has consistently passed significant legislation. In fact, just last month, even with a Republican Congress and Donald Trump in the White House, she passed THREE pieces of legislation by including them in must-pass bills: Preventing Maternal Deaths Act: Addresses the maternal mortality crisis and helps lower maternal deaths which disproportionately impact Black mothers. PREVENT DIABETES Act: Ensures that seniors can use evidence-based Diabetes Prevention Programs through the modality that works for them, including virtually. Special Diabetes Program and Special Diabetes Program for Indians Reauthorization: Funds research programs for diabetes and tribal program prevention. In the same bill, Diana also secured over $16 million in federal funding to help fight homelessness and expand health care services in Denver. President Obama signing Diana DeGette’s 21st Century Cures Act. Diana has passed dozens of pieces of significant legislation. Here are a few highlights of her leadership on bills that are now law: 21ST CENTURY CURES ACT: Lead co-sponsor of landmark legislation to accelerate the discovery, development, and delivery of new medical treatments and cures while authorizing $6.3 billion for research on diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s and diabetes. PREVENTING MATERNAL DEATHS ACT: Wrote legislation to address the maternal mortality crisis and save the lives of mothers across the country. STEM CELL RESEARCH: Twice passed legislation to open the door for groundbreaking research into treatments for life-threatening diseases and then worked with President Obama to write an Executive Order after President George W. Bush twice vetoed stem cell legislation. STATE CHILDREN’S HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN: Worked as part of the brain trust that developed the plan that has given millions of kids health insurance for the first time. REDUCE METHANE POLLUTION: Passed legislation to restore authority to cap methane emissions from the oil and gas industry after Donald Trump repealed the rule. FDA FOOD SAFETY MODERNIZATION ACT: Wrote the bill transforming food safety standards and helping prevent dangerous outbreaks before they occur. STEPHANIE TUBBS JONES ORGAN TRANSPLANT AUTHORIZATION ACT: This bill strengthened the national organ transplant system and saved thousands of lives. ADVANCE CLEAN ENERGY: Passed the Hydropower Regulatory Efficiency Act, helping expand clean energy production. DRUG QUALITY AND SECURITY ACT: Worked to strengthen oversight of prescription drugs to keep families safe. INVEST IN DENVER: Delivered millions of dollars in funding for major local projects, including Platte River cleanup, Union Station restoration, addressing homelessness and health care for Denver residents. PUBLIC LANDS: Passed several bills to expand access to public lands and get kids outside. DIANA HAS A HISTORY OF STANDING UP TO DONALD TRUMP. She was the Speaker Pro Tem, presiding over his first impeachment by the House, and was an Impeachment Manager for his second impeachment trial in the Senate. It is CRITICAL that our work doesn’t stop now — especially as we face the threats of the Trump Administration.
